Mark your calendars, Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week is June 2nd through the 10th. In 2016, the Chesapeake Bay Commission championed the notion of designating the second week of June to honor the Bay and to promote education and community service in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Throughout the week there will be a variety of events held in the Mid-Atlantic to help support these efforts.
Goals of Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week:
- Highlight the natural resources and beauty of Chesapeake Bay.
- Educate residents about the actions each citizen can take to help restore the Chesapeake Bay.
- Showcase the role and partnership of private business, tourism and other industries connected to the Bay in helping to engage residents in Bay awareness.
- Encourage educators and students of all ages to take part!
