Renewable energy is coming to three sites in Carroll County, MD. The county Board of Commissioners has entered into an agreement with a consortium that has a goal of cutting the cost of electricity by 20 percent.
The sites are Hoods Mill Landfill, the Hampstead Wastewater Treatment Plant and Carroll Community College, according to energybiz.com. The county spends about $2.9 million with Baltimore Gas and Electric annually on energy. The project is expected to cut that cost by $590,000.
The partners are Bithenergy, Sun Edison and Pivotal Power Solutions.
